Greetings from Ghana!

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your prayers! I made it here without a single problem! I met really great people on my flights. On the last one I met a lady who lives in the States but is from Ghana and she was SO helpful!! She helped me around the airport and taught me about Ghanaian culture and even told me she would have her niece check up on me!! Everyone I've met is go-out-of-their-way-to-help-you nice! Last night a group of us got picked up from the airport and taken to the hostel. I have one roommate, Kristen, who is from Minnesota. We might switch and get Ghanaian roommates in a week, though. Our room is simple, but nice and clean. I had my first cold shower..as most of you know I am generally cold anyways so this was quite an experience. I pretty much just tried to stay out of the water as much as possible, and it ended up not being too bad. The door to the shower didn't have a lock that worked so I was a little nervous, but I had no mishaps! Today we started our official orientation. We went to buy phones at the mall, but I have yet to get mine working. I'm hoping by tomorrow I'll have a phone! Then we got a few lectures about safety and culture. We learned how to say a few things in Twi! I'm really excited to learn the language! Then we got a tour of campus... which is huge!!! Everything is so spread out and you walk on these red dirt roads to get everywhere. My toes are super dirty as you can imagine! But the campus is really nice and I'm looking forward to learning my way around. At dinner I ate fish willingly because I thought it was chicken!!! It was actually pretty tasty!! Tomorrow our orientation continues with a city tour of Accra!! The internet isn't strong enough for me to post pictures now, but hopefully tomorrow!!!

Good night,
Annie :)
